House rules for reading

Revised 1 November 2026

Reading Thistledowplay costs nothing

Thistledowplay is a free site for reading about typing games and speed tests. There are no accounts to create, nothing to register for and nothing on sale here. By browsing the pages you accept these house rules, which we have kept as short and plain as we can manage.

We may revise these rules as the site grows. The date at the top shows the latest revision, and the version on this page is always the one that applies.

Our marks are opinions earned at the keyboard

Every review, score and recommendation on Thistledowplay is editorial opinion, formed after our writers spent weeks playing the game in question. Other typists may reasonably reach different conclusions, and we encourage you to try the games yourself.

Typing games are updated by their makers, and modes, designs and features shift over time. We revisit reviews when we notice changes. If you spot something out of date or simply wrong, please write to editors@thistledowplay.com and we will look at it promptly.

Leaving for the games themselves

Play buttons on our pages open each game’s official website in a new browser tab. Once there, you are on the publisher’s own site, and its own terms of use and privacy policy govern your visit, any account you create and anything you choose to do there.

We choose links carefully and point them at official addresses, and we check them regularly to keep them pointing at the right place.

Who owns what on these pages

Game names, logos and trade marks belong to their respective owners, and we mention them only to identify the games we review.

The writing, illustrations, page design and our mascot Teasel are Thistledowplay’s own work. You are welcome to quote short extracts with a link back to the page; for anything larger, ask us first and we will usually be glad to help.

Reading with a light touch

Please use Thistledowplay as an ordinary reader would. Do not try to disrupt the site, copy it wholesale, or scrape it in ways that strain the server.

We work to keep the pages accurate, available and quick to load, and we fix problems as soon as we learn about them.

The law behind these rules

These house rules are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. If you live elsewhere in the UK or abroad, the consumer protections of your own home country still apply to you as normal.
